Mike’s bday really does only mean one thing, where are we gonna fill our bellies with fizz and meat for the eve. As the food and beverage manager of the relationship I scouted a new branch of the Dirty Bones chain opening in Shoreditch. Huraahh! Their other gaff is all the way out in Kensington, basically a mission. The last thing you wanna do is travel an hour home on a belly of meat, am I right?
But with it on the doorstep t’was convenient so I booked it up. First stop London Cocktail Club for happy hour drinks. Oh and drink we did.
They are super super friendly in there!
So after a few fruity numbers we headed over to Dirty Bones. The place was gorgeous, high ceilings and comfy booth seats (which we nabbed). The bar area was lush, I’d defo stop by for just drinks.
Mike wanted a beer but when he nipped to the loo I obviously ordered us prosecco.
Great menu full of all the things we love, Mike was pleased- I knew I made good choices.
We shared some free range chicken wings tossed in the chef’s own Louisiana style hot sauce. These had a kickkk- yumm.
Also some mac n cheese balls. There were 3 but boy couldn’t wait for the pic before tucking in. Crispy cheesey amazingness.
Then there were the glorious mains. I’d seen the beef short rib on Instagram so knew it would be special. It was, the meat just fell off the bone. It was covered in a salted caramel & burnt onion BBQ sauce, crispy shallots and spring onions. Not as saucy as I’d hoped but still had a tasty flavour.
Mike surprisingly had a steak. A flat iron dry-aged steak. It came over with a piece of rosemary smoking away, they do say the sense of smell is the the most powerful. Nice touch.
More mac and cheese with a parmesan crumb. Oh my dayzzz.
Cheesy truffle fries and some normal fries to really fatten us up.
The team were so cute and gave boy a little sing song for his bday. This was an intense dessert, i want to try and re-create the gorgeousness at home. Twas a banana toblerone-tella waffle with caramelised banana, blueberry jam, peanut butter gelato with crushed nuts. Ill let that just sink in.
We got another glass of red for the chills before kicking out time.
I think I won some brownie points for booking this place. If you love meat/BBQ/huge portions Dirty Bones hits the spot.
