3 Course Set Menu @ Eastway, Liv St

To conclude my week of London Restaurant Festival  outings I finished up with a hearty 3 course dinner at Eastway in the Andaz Hotel.

TGIF! Time to stretch that tum for the weekend. I decided to give up the booze for a week after this night so I had to go out in style. Cocktails. Bellini for me, whisky sour for Mike.

Eastway has a very relaxed but classy vibe, just what you’d expect from a hotel restaurant. Carbs first up, warm bread, yum.

The set menu was surprisingly big, quite a few things to choose from. I had the pork and rabbit terrine. Just look at the size of this baby. More bread and a side of truffle butter. It was a dream. Love the rustic board presentation.

Mike had a heirloom tomato tart with burrata & basil. No shortage of tomatoes. Both really good dishes.

Few glasses of red to keep the party going.

Then mains, since Mike took my first choice i decided on grilled mackerel with samphire mash. It was so much better than what I was expecting. Smokey, not too fishy and nice and salty. I enjoyed the cute mussels round the edge.

Photo credit to Mike for this delish pic. Pan fried duck with carrot puree and a dark jus. Oh wow it tasted as good as it looked.

Desserts had to be almost forced down. We had a little breather and more wine to get us ready.

The Earl Grey crème brûlée was silky smooth with the perfect crispy shell. It also came with shortbread AND honeycomb, were they seriously trying to kill me?  Regretfully I managed half at best.

All Mike’s fave things came in his pud; popcorn, salted caramel ice cream, toffee and marshmallows. Dessert goals.

So to wrap up, I would head back here, although, with Shoreditch just around the corner it’s hard to not want something with a little more quirk. If you’re after top notch, perfectly presented food with a chilled atmosphere you wouldn’t be disappointed with Eastway.
