So I’ve just been on back to back hen do’s for my dear friends last ‘weekend’ of freedom. It’s been hectic but amazing fun. I was planning on a week of detox but since it was London Restaurant Festival, that went out the window.
I was invited down to M Restaurant Victoria to sample their free flowing menu. It was Monday. It was going to be a long week. I couldn’t resist- neither could Mike, obviously.
We had a quick (strong) cocktail in the very cool bar before the feastin’ began.
The dealio is 4 courses and bottomless prosecco for £36.50– a steal. The dining room is gloriously stylish with suited up waiters to match. A lovely warm welcome and we got straight down to bubbly business.
Some little snacks to get the juices flowing. Black taramasalata and chunky crusty bread.
The menu is fairly short and sweet but lucky for us everything sounded heaven. We shared our starters- cause, that’s the rule. Buttermilk fried chicken, just the word buttermilk sounds dreamy. Amazingly crispy with fiery sauce on the side. Give me all the heat.
Boerewors sausage, which seemed a little odd, I felt I was missing a fried egg and side of toast, but it was delish all the same.
We were quite merry by this point, being constantly topped up. The servers really were lovely here.
Mains up. No guessing what boy went for, this delightful hunk of fillet steak.
I had something a little different- guinea fowl. It was fabulous. Pretty as a picture and super tasty.
We shared fries and seasonal greens. Beaut spread.
Sadly they had finished the pumpkin dessert so we both had the dulce mousse. It was flavoured with bacon and sweetcorn, sounds a little crazy but it worked. Nice sweet finished. But something was missing….
Ahhh my nemesis, an espresso martini. Our server was a gem and advised us of the caramel martini, so that’s what we got. OHHH WOWWWW. Almost too much. So sweet they were incredible.
We were officially stuffed and slightly sozzled. Absolute divine evening at M Victoria. I can’t fault the service or the menu and the prosecco was truly free flowing.
On the way out we passed their wine shop. I needed all this wine. FYI Mondays- free corkage. Any of my friends want a hen do here, or any excuse I’m there.
